The King and Queen of the Belgians embarked on a state visit to their cousins in Luxembourg on Tuesday, and we’ve got plenty of jewels (including tiaras!) to enjoy from the trip so far.

Mathilde wore a pale pink ensemble for the trip, complete with earrings with pink gemstone drops.

In Luxembourg, the Belgian royals were welcomed by Grand Duke Henri. (Philippe and Henri are first cousins; Henri’s mother, Grand Duchess Josephine-Charlotte, was the older sister of Philippe’s father, King Albert.) For the official welcome ceremonies in Luxembourg, Mathilde changed into a green floral dress with a coordinating coat and hat.

She also wore green earrings to go with the outfit.

It was announced several days ago that Grand Duchess Maria Teresa wouldn’t be able to participate in the state visit — she recently had knee surgery. It was a welcome surprise, then, to see that she was well enough to meet with Philippe and Mathilde after all.

And, even better, she was well enough to wear a tiara and jewels for Tuesday evening’s state banquet!

Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie also attended the state banquet. Stephanie wore the family’s citrine and pearl bandeau for the dinner.

Queen Mathilde wore the grandest tiara in the Belgian royal vaults for the occasion: the full version of the Nine Provinces Tiara. The tiara originally belonged to Philippe and Henri’s grandmother, Queen Astrid of Belgium. Mathilde also wore diamond and pearl drop earrings that belonged to their aunt, Queen Fabiola of Belgium.

Maria Teresa also used her jewels to give a nod to her royal guests. She chose the Belgian Scroll Tiara for the banquet, a jewel that belonged to her Belgian-born mother-in-law, Grand Duchess Josephine-Charlotte. Maria Teresa paired the tiara with emerald jewels that complemented her green gown. Many of the grand ducal family’s emeralds can also be traced back to Josephine-Charlotte’s mother, Queen Astrid.

On Wednesday, Queen Mathilde visited Esch-sur-Alzette with Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie. The two women have quite a lot in common: they’re both daughters of Belgian aristocratic families. Their visit included an academic seminar in Massenoire devoted to medical innovation.

Mathilde wore a floral printed dress for the seminar, as well as a pair of her signature gold earrings.

Stephanie used dark purple drop earrings to pick up the violet colors of her hat and wrap.

The return event on Wednesday evening was a concert hosted by the Belgian royal couple. Both Mathilde and Stephanie chose major statement earrings for the occasion. Mathilde wore a lovely pair of diamond earrings, and you can get a better look at Stephanie’s earrings here!
