10. For a Place2Be reception at Kensington Palace on Wednesday, the Duchess of Cambridge chose a familiar pair of earrings: her Temple of Heaven girandole pendant earrings by Cassandra Goad.


9. Queen Maxima attended a symposium in Utrecht on Thursday, pairing a regal purple outfit with a large gold statement necklace.

8. Queen Mathilde of the Belgians spoke at an event to mark Universal Children’s Day on Thursday. She continued her interest in oversized accessories, wearing a very large necklace.

7. The Duchess of Cornwall wore her paired turquoise bird brooches as she visited HMP Erlestoke Prison on Tuesday.

6. On her sixty-seventh wedding anniversary, Queen Elizabeth II wore the Jardine Star Brooch for a visit to RAF Lossiemouth with the Duke of Edinburgh.

5. Queen Letizia of Spain chose a pair of colorful pendant earrings to address a nutrition summit in Rome on Thursday.

4. Before leaving with King Felipe for Italy, Queen Letizia chose silver earrings for an awards ceremony at El Prado in Madrid on Monday.

3. The Duchess of Cornwall accompanied the Prince of Wales to Westminster Abbey on Thursday for a memorial service for Lady Mary Soames. She wore her diamond stick insect brooch, a piece which has been in her collection since her pre-duchess days.

2. The Swedish royal family attended a
diplomatic reception on Tuesday, and the two highest-ranking ladies in
the land brought out tiaras for the occasion. Queen Silvia wore the
Connaught Diamond Tiara, while Crown Princess Victoria chose the larger
Napoleonic Cut Steel Tiara. Sofia Hellqvist attended the event with
Prince Carl Philip, but no tiaras for her just yet. See more photos at the royal website.

1. This week, the Duchess of Alba, one of the most flamboyant members of the Spanish aristocracy, died at 88. She had more titles than anyone else on the planet, plus an absolutely astonishing collection of palaces, art, and jewels. Here she is in her younger days, wearing her floral coronet and a gorgeous diamond necklace. Stay tuned tomorrow for another look into her jewel collection!

10. During an official introductory visit to Luxembourg on Tuesday, Queen Letizia of Spain demonstrated a bit of jewelry innovation, combining her star-shaped Chanel diamond stud earrings with a shortened version of her diamond and pearl pendant earrings.

9. During a day of engagements in Wales on Saturday, the Duchess of Cambridge wore her green amethyst drop earrings by Kiki McDonough.

8. Felipe and Letizia continued their introductory visits in Belgium on Wednesday. Queen Mathilde and Queen Letizia both chose delicate earrings for the occasion.

7. Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands headed to Rotterdam on Wednesday to visit the Norwegian Church’s Christmas market, where she paired one of her signature cake hats with an intriguing beaded necklace.

6. Queen Margrethe II of Denmark wore her tortoise brooch at a press conference for the new production of The Nutcracker at Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen.


5. During a poignant Remembrance Day ceremony at the National War Memorial in Ottawa, Princess Anne paired her poppy with her golden maple leaf brooch.

4. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended Thursday’s Royal Variety Performance at the London Palladium. Kate accessorized her lace Diane von Furstenberg dress with Kiki McDonough’s blue topaz and diamond hoop earrings.

3. Princess Caroline of Monaco visited Amsterdam on Friday and attended the AMADE Gala, where she wore pearl earrings and layered diamond necklaces.

2. Queen Maxima of the Netherlands raided the family’s jewel foundation for Saturday’s Franz Liszt Piano Competition, wearing diamond jewelry that included Queen Wilhelmina’s diamond trellis necklace (a wedding gift from Queen Emma in 1901) and Queen Juliana’s diamond openwork earrings.

1. Crown Princess Mary of Denmark traveled to Germany on Thursday, where she was recognized during the annual Bambi Awards. For the event, she wore her diamond and aquamarine girandole earrings, a pair that has been in her collection for a decade, and a diamond bracelet:

10. On Thursday, Queen Elizabeth II joined King Philippe of the Belgians at the opening of the new Flanders Field Memorial in London. She wore her diamond and gold sunflower brooch, made in the 1970s by Garrard.

9. On Saturday, Charlotte Casiraghi attended a gala in Los Angeles, where she wore bracelets with her striking gown. Here’s a better look:

And — intriguingly — doesn’t that look like a wedding ring on Charlotte’s left hand???

8. Queen Letizia of Spain continued her love affair with petite pendant earrings at the Francisco Cerecedo Journalism Awards on Wednesday. Anyone else think this pair looks a bit like the Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding earrings? (Sans acorns, of course!)

7. Last Wednesday, Queen Silvia of Sweden wore pearls and a silver cuff bracelet to give an award to Malala Yousafzai, one of the winners of this year’s Nobel Peace Prize (and someone that I admire greatly!).

6. Back in the Netherlands after trips to Japan and South Korea, Queen Maxima wore hoops to visit a children’s music organization on Thursday.

5. In Campeche on Wednesday, the Duchess of Cornwall wore pearls and a pair of bracelets — plus, of course, her poppy — during an engagement with the first lady of the state of Monterrey.

4. On Thursday evening, Queen Elizabeth II attended the Recovery Pathway reception at Buckingham Palace with her grandsons, William and Harry; she wore her Cartier diamond and aquamarine clips paired together as a single brooch. Update: Yep, although this one resembles the Cartier clips, it’s actually a diamond and aquamarine brooch/set of clips that belonged to the Queen Mother, worn by HM recently at Ascot.

3. During her recent trip to South Africa, Crown Princess Mary of Denmark wore a stunning pair of gold earrings, made by Jewlscph. They’re made of gold-plated sterling silver, and they retail for 520 euros.

2. From South Africa, Mary traveled to Geneva for an event at the United Nations on Thursday. She wore a large blue leaf-shaped brooch as she spoke during a meeting on the status of women.

1. As per usual, tiaras win the week for me! Hop over to Luxarazzi to see Grand Duchess Maria Teresa in the family’s citrine/topaz parure, and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie wearing one of the family’s amethyst sets, including the tiara worn above in the 1970s by Princess Marie-Astrid. Love the purple jewels on Stephanie with that gown!
