The British royal family gathered in London today to mark Remembrance Sunday, with solemn ceremonies dedicated to those who have honored the nation with their military service, as well as those who have given their lives for their country.

This year, the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh watched from the balcony as the Prince of Wales laid a wreath on her behalf.

The Queen, who appeared to be visibly moved during part of the ceremony at the Cenotaph, gathered her poppies with the Dorset Bow Brooch, another jewel that belonged to Queen Mary.

The Duchess of Cornwall paid tribute to her late father, Major Bruce Shand, with her jewelry. With her diamond floral and pearl drop earrings and pearl choker necklace, she wore the cap badge of The Lancers, her father’s regiment.

The Duchess of Cambridge joined the Countess of Wessex and Princess Alexandra, the Hon. Lady Ogilvy to watch the proceedings from another balcony.

Kate kept her jewelry very simple, wearing resin pearl button earrings from Oscar de la Renta. (More on the earrings over here.) The gold-plated earrings coordinated with the military-style buttons on her coat.

Sophie wore smoky gem drop earrings with a poppy brooch and the cap badge of The Rifles. (She’s the Royal Colonel of the 5th Battalion.)

Alexandra also wore the cap badge of The Rifles (she’s the Royal Colonel of the 3rd Battalion), plus pearl button earrings and a small poppy pin.

The Princess Royal mirrored her mother’s jewelry choices, wearing a three-stranded pearl necklace with pearl earrings.

Photos of the Countess of Wessex were difficult to come by, but here we can see that she wore her earrings with a clear stone set in a circular frame, plus a cap badge on her lapel. It’s not easy to see exactly which one this is, but I think it’s either the Corps of Army Music or Queen Alexandra’s Royal Army Nursing Corps.

This blurry shot was the best I could present of the Duchess of Gloucester, who wore a pair of diamond floral brooches. She’s also wearing the cap badge of The Rifles.

And Princess Alexandra, the Hon. Lady Ogilvy wore large sparkling stud earrings with her pearl choker and her diamond clematis brooch, which is similar to one owned by the Queen.
