Another Outing for Kate’s Modern Emeralds

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended the BAFTAs at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Sunday evening, and the occasion brought us a second outing for Kate’s modern emerald suite.

Kate wore the diamond and emerald jewels for the first time in December 2014. On that occasion, she wore a long version of the earrings and the coordinating bracelet. (The photo above is from that event, the St. Andrews 600th Anniversary Dinner at Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.) You can read our previous post on the jewels here.

Now we know that the suite also includes a necklace, which Kate wore for the first time in public on Sunday.

We also learned that the earrings from the set are convertible. On Sunday, Kate wore the diamond and emerald cluster portion from the long earrings separately as stud earrings.

She also wore the bracelet from the suite.

A Regal New Brooch for Camilla

The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall visited Yorkshire on Friday, and Camilla wore a regal new brooch for the occasion.

The new jewel, which was pinned to the collar of her pink coat, is shaped like a coronet or crown.

Here’s a close-up. The gold brooch features small golden pearl toppers, and the “base” of the coronet is studded with diamonds, as well as red and green gemstones.

Charles and Camilla made various stops during the visit, but one of the most interesting was Camilla’s visit to Haworth, the location of the Bronte family’s parsonage. Permit me a moment of literary nerdiness here — my master’s thesis was on Wuthering Heights — Camilla celebrated the 200th anniversary of Emily Bronte’s birth by helping to complete a manuscript of her famous novel. Nifty!
