Originally published in the 1990s, Edwards’s book takes a look at the young lives of Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret, from their childhood until the 1950s. Their romances with Philip Mountbatten and Peter Townsend form a major part of the book. Edwards is keenly interested in the way the regal position of each princess informed her romance.

The book was republished in 2016, no doubt thanks to the success of The Crown. Edwards has provided a new foreword to the book that discusses her own personal connections to her biographical subjects — including her friendship with Townsend.

For the second year in a row, the royal sisters-in-law made a joint appearance at Wimbledon. For the ladies’ final this year, they were joined by another member of the extended family: Kate’s sister, Pippa Middleton Matthews.

Here’s another look at the earrings, taken while Kate was concentrating on the match between Serena Williams and Simona Halep.

On her right hand, Meghan sported a gold ring made by another favorite brand, Pippa Small.

But Pippa’s earrings were perhaps my favorite jewel worn in the royal box on Saturday. These diamond, tanzanite, and sapphire climber earrings are from Garrard, and they feature Tudor roses in their design.

Kate accessorized on Sunday with another pair of earrings she’s worn frequently: the baroque pearl drop earrings from In2Design. She wore the same earrings last year at Wimbledon for the ladies’ final.

These diamond studs look very much like the earrings that she wore this year to Trooping the Colour, worn this time with a black jacket element to add a little extra visual interest.

Meghan greeted another diamond-wearing superstar, Beyonce, at the premiere. (She voices one of the characters in the film.) The singer was decked out in diamonds from one of her favorite designers, Lorraine Schwartz.
