The Queen inherited this spectacular diamond brooch from her grandmother, Queen Mary, in 1953. The diamonds were part of the grand Cullinan stone given to King Edward VII in 1907, and the brooch was constructed by Carrington in 1911. Because the original stone was cut by a Dutch jeweler, the Queen often chooses this for occasions related to the Netherlands, including the Dutch state banquet in 2018. She also wears it for the grandest of her daytime outings, like the 2012 service of thanksgiving to celebrate her Diamond Jubilee.

Queen Mary’s Lover’s Knot Brooch

This imposing diamond bow brooch, which is shaped like a true lover’s knot, was acquired by Queen Mary from Garrard in 1932. She bequeathed it to the Queen in 1953, and since then, HM has worn it for a range of engagements, including formal daytime events and evening receptions and galas. It’s also appeared at two royal weddings!

In this match-up between a major heirloom and modern brooches, the Greville Ivy Leaf Clips held their own with 39.98% of the vote — but it was the Duchess of Cambridge’s Pearl Pendant Brooch that won the day with 60.02%!

The Cullinan VI and VIII Brooch vs. The Sapphire Chrysanthemum Brooch

Once again, the Cullinans have proven that they’re going to be tough to beat! The Cullinan VI and VIII Brooch won over 66.29% of you, while the Sapphire Chrysanthemum Brooch was favored by 33.71% of voters.

The Queen Mother’s Palm Leaf Brooch vs. The Greville Scroll Brooch

Two brooches from the Queen Mum’s collection faced off in this contest. While the Greville Scroll Brooch brought in 27.26% of the vote, the Queen Mother’s Palm Leaf Brooch triumphed with 72.74%!

The Kent Amethyst Brooch vs. The Golden Dahlia Brooch

Talk about a runaway! In this contest, 84.79% of voters selected the Kent Amethyst Brooch, with the Golden Dahlia Brooch managing to sway only 15.21% of the vote.

Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee Brooch vs. The Sapphire Jubilee Snowflake Brooch

Upset alert! Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee Brooch was toppled in this contest, bringing in 33.38% of the vote to the Sapphire Jubilee Snowflake Brooch‘s 66.62%!

The Flame Lily Brooch vs. The Pearl Triangle Brooch

The underdog triumphed in this match-up, too! The Pearl Triangle Brooch claimed 60.77% of the vote, while the Flame Lily Brooch was chosen by 39.23% of voters.

Queen Mary’s Richmond Brooch vs. Queen Mary’s Turquoise Brooch

This may have been our very closest vote yet! In the end, Queen Mary’s Richmond Brooch squeaked out a victory with 50.42% of the vote, while Queen Mary’s Turquoise Brooch brought in 49.58%. (With more than 4000 votes cast, the difference here was only 35 votes!!!)

The Russian Sapphire Cluster Brooch vs. The Golden Trellis Brooch

In our final round one contest, Goliath won the day. While the Golden Trellis Brooch was favored by 12.7% of voters, it was the Russian Sapphire Cluster Brooch that claimed victory with a whopping 87.3% of the vote!
