Floral Tiara Tournament: Week One Results!

I’ve got all the results from our first week of voting in the floral tiara tournament!

This match paired up two towering floral sparklers. Though the Hanoverian Floral Tiara brought in a very respectable 41.91% of the vote, the Braganza Tiara survived to the next round, winning with 58.09%.

These diamond tiaras both feature naturalistic floral sprays. The Spanish Floral Tiara ran away with this contest, winning with 67.4% of the vote, while 32.6% of you picked the Floral Birthday Tiara as the winner.

Would it be the flexible floral ornament or the classic floral bridal diadem? Though the Isenburg Floral Tiara was selected by 24.33% of voters, the Danish Floral Aigrette pulled off a commanding victory with 75.67% of the vote.

This was an extremely close contest! The Cubitt Tiara ultimately triumphed, winning with 50.78% of the vote, but the Savoy-Aosta Tiara finished right on its heels with 49.22%.

Floral Tiara Tournament: Spanish Floral vs Floral Birthday

Two naturalistic floral sprays meet up in this competition!

The Spanish Floral Tiara vs. Princess Benedikte’s Floral Birthday Tiara

This Spanish tiara has an important pedigree: it was a gift from King Alfonso XII to his wife, Queen Maria Cristina. The sparkler was sold when the family went into exile in the ’30s, but it was later bought back by Franco and given as a wedding present to Queen Sofia. Today, the classic diamond floral tiara is one of Queen Letizia’s signature pieces.

This classic diamond floral tiara was made using a brooch that belonged to Queen Alexandrine of Denmark. In the 1960s, Queen Ingrid had the brooch supplemented with additional gemstones to form an eighteenth-birthday-gift tiara for her second daughter, Princess Benedikte. (The brooch is also still detachable.) Benedikte has worn the tiara throughout her life, and she’s also loaned it to her daughters, Princess Alexandra and Princess Nathalie.
