The Queen of the Netherlands has a jewelry box packed with brooches shaped like insects, including moths, butterflies, beetles, and spiders. This pair of spider brooches comes from Celedonio, a jewelry firm from Maxima’s native Argentina.

The brooches are realistic in detail but oversized, giving them a playful look. They’re completely handmade and set with crystals. Maxima nearly always wears the brooches as a matched pair.

The spiders have been in her collection for several years, and she often wears them in the autumn months. In November 2015, she donned the brooches in The Hague for a series of financial support workshops for women at the Fokker Terminal.

In October 2018, she wore the brooches to speak at the SME Annual Conference in The Hague, which she attended in her capacity as a member of the Dutch Committee for Entrepreneurship.
