Two classic bandeaux face off in this competition!

The Dutch royal vault is the home of this classic diamond laurel wreath tiara, which is inspired by the wreaths worn to represent victory and power in the ancient world. The small profile of the tiara has made it an excellent “starter” tiara for Dutch princesses, especially Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands. It’s also become a popular wedding tiara for members of the family, having been worn by both Princess Laurentien and Princess Maria Carolina at their weddings.

Queen Mary had this sleek diamond bandeau made in 1932 to showcase the County of Lincoln Brooch, which she’d received as a wedding present in 1893. Mary wore the tiara occasionally, but in May 2018, it garnered major attention when it was worn as a bridal tiara by the Duchess of Sussex.

This classic diamond tiara was inspired by a kokoshnik owned by Queen Alexandra’s beloved sister, Empress Marie Feodorovna of Russia. Alexandra received hers as a silver wedding present from a group of aristocratic women. Later worn by Queen Mary, it’s graced the Queen’s head since 1953, and has been a fixture at galas and state banquets during her reign.

What could be more classic than a winding river of enormous diamonds? This bandeau was originally a necklace, given to Queen Emma as a wedding gift by the people of the Netherlands. Queen Wilhelmina had it transformed into a bandeau-style tiara, and it’s been worn by every Dutch queen since. The sleek bandeau, which includes more than 100 carats of diamonds, has become a particular favorite of Queen Maxima.
