8. On Saturday, the Duchess of Cambridge accompanied the Duke and Prince Harry to the wedding of Lucy Meade and Charlie Budgett in Chippenham. She looked to her closet for her wardrobe on the day, including a familiar pair of earrings: the Temple of Heaven earrings by Cassandra Goad.
7. The Luxarazzi ladies are delving into the family’s jewelry again; their Thursday blog post highlighted two pieces of diamond jewelry that Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie seems to have received from the Lannoy family collection.
6. Accompanied by her husband and her grandson, Queen Elizabeth II attended the unveiling of a statue honoring the Windsor Greys in Windsor on Monday. For the occasion, she wore a brooch that has been a regular part of the rotation in recent years: the Pearl Trefoil Brooch.
5. After a busy previous week, Queen Maxima of the Netherlands had a more relaxing royal engagement on Wednesday, christening a new search and rescue lifeboat. She chose large pendant earrings for the occasion. If only the champagne had been a bit more cooperative…
4. Three of the Spanish royal ladies — Sofia, Letizia, and Elena — wore low-key jewelry as they attended an event at Zarzuela Palace on Tuesday. The more important jewels on the day, however, belonged to the men:
The event included a ceremony in which Enrique V. Iglesias (the economist, not the singer) was invested by King Juan Carlos as a knight of the Order of the Golden Fleece. Iglesias is the twentieth knight of the order currently living; most of the others are royals and other heads of state.
3. Crown Princess Mary of Denmark began a visit to Estonia on Tuesday; she accessorized her dress with a large gold brooch for dinner with the Estonian president and first lady.
2. A meeting between a queen and a pope brought out an imperial treasure on Thursday. To meet with Pope Francis at the Vatican, Queen Elizabeth II donned a sapphire, gold, and diamond brooch that was often worn by her late mother. Ursula’s site says that Queen Mary purchased the brooch from the estate of Empress Marie Feodorovna in 1928, but the official BP Twitter account says that Mary bought the piece in 1934.
1. One of the week’s sparkliest outings was in Belgium, where King Philippe and Queen Mathilde welcomed the Chinese president and first lady to Laeken Castle for a state banquet. The event was the first state banquet hosted by the new sovereign couple, and Mathilde wore the tiara reserved for Belgian queens: the Nine Provinces Tiara. She wore the meander base of the tiara, which she had worn previously in her first official portrait as queen. At the same banquet, Princess Astrid wore the Savoy-Aosta Tiara (see the video here at around the 1:13 mark).
