Yesterday in Luxembourg, a civil royal wedding ceremony brought out some grand ducal bling! Here are some of the jewels we saw as Princess Marie-Gabrielle of Nassau married Antonius Willms.

The bride wore a traditional cream-colored ensemble for the civil ceremony, but she added a bit of excitement with a pair of colorful, gem-set statement earrings.

Here’s another angle on the earrings. Princess Marie-Gabrielle is the eldest child of Prince Jean of Luxembourg (who celebrated his 60th birthday on the wedding day) and his first wife, Hélène Vestur. Prince Jean’s wife (and the bride’s stepmother), Countess Diane de Nassau, was not pictured at the wedding ceremony.

During the civil ceremony, which was performed by Luxembourg City’s mayor, Lydie Polfer, we also caught a glimpse of Marie-Gabrielle’s ring. Antonius and Marie-Gabrielle live in Munich, where she has a career in interior design.

The American-born groom is also descended from royalty, including the kings of Bourbon-Two Sicilies. (Marlene Koenig has a good rundown of Antonius’s family background and his connections to Marie-Gabrielle; the couple are fifth cousins.)

The wedding was witnessed by the bride’s brother, Prince Constantin of Nassau, and the groom’s brother, Johannes Willms. The couple’s religious wedding will be held in Spain.

Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg, the bride’s aunt, wore the two-toned Dior earrings worn last week by her daughter, Princess Alexandra. Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie wore a tasseled necklace.

Princess Alexandra of Luxembourg chose simple earrings for her cousin’s wedding.

The bride’s mother, pictured in the foreground here, wore a pair of hoop earrings for the civil ceremony. Behind the bride’s father is her aunt, Princess Margaretha of Liechtenstein, who wore a pair of colorful earrings and a necklace with a circle pendant. (Margaretha is Jean’s twin, so yesterday was also her 60th birthday.)
