Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom was in Windsor today, where she celebrated her milestone 90th birthday with a walkabout.

For her big day, the Queen chose one of my favorites from her brooch collection: the Jardine Star Brooch, a nineteenth-century diamond piece that she received in 1981 from Lady Jardine.

The Queen kept the brooch on for her other engagement of the day: the lighting of a special birthday beacon outside Windsor Castle.
