Marie chose a vintage-style gown in white for the occasion, which served as a lovely backdrop for the sash and insignia of the Order of the Elephant.

Marie almost always wears Princess Dagmar’s Floral Tiara, which has been on loan to her from Queen Margrethe since her wedding day in 2008, for gala events. This time, she paired the diamond floral tiara with a simple pair of diamond stud earrings.

She secured the sash of the Order of the Elephant with a small diamond floral brooch. She began wearing the brooch in 2009, debuting it during the celebrations of Prince Henrik’s 75th birthday.

But perhaps the most impressive jewel was the pendant she suspended from a delicate chain. The piece, Queen Alexandrine’s Diamond and Sapphire Pendant, belonged to Queen Margrethe’s grandmother, Queen Alexandrine of Denmark. It was later worn by both Queen Ingrid and Queen Margrethe. This dinner was Marie’s first appearance in the jewel, which she has worn on numerous occasions since.
