To mark Remembrance Sunday, Queen Elizabeth II led tributes at the Cenotaph in London this morning. The day honors members of the armed forces who have died while in service to the country.

The Queen usually uses one of her diamond bow brooches to gather a bouquet of paper poppies for the ceremony in Whitehall. This year, she selected one of Queen Victoria’s Bow Brooches.

As is tradition, the royal women who weren’t laying wreaths at the Cenotaph watched the ceremonies from a balcony above.

The Duchess of Cornwall wore her diamond and pearl earrings and her pearl choker with the shield-shaped diamond clasp. She gathered her poppies with the cap badge of the 12th Royal Lancers. Her late father, Major Bruce Shand, commanded part of the regiment in World War II.

The Duchess of Cambridge kept her jewelry minimal: just a pair of pearl and diamond earrings. We’ve not seen these on Kate in public before. They look virtually identical to the Queen’s Bahrain Pearl Earrings, which were made using pearls given to Elizabeth as a wedding present from that nation. If so, these are almost certainly on loan from the Queen (like the other pearls she’s been wearing recently), but I don’t believe we have palace confirmation yet.

The Countess of Wessex’s earrings are by Dior; they look like pearls, but they’re actually made of resin beads. She also wore a Buckley London poppy brooch and, most significantly, the cap badge of The Rifles. Sophie is Royal Colonel of the regiment’s 5th Battalion.
