Sophie, who was escorted by the President of Iceland, has no Norwegian orders, so she wore the sash of her highest British order, the Royal Victorian Order. She also wore her mother-in-law’s family order.

One more British guest was in attendance: Lady Elizabeth Shakerley. Her parents were Viscount Anson and Anne Bowes-Lyon, a niece of the Queen Mother. Elizabeth’s mother became Princess Anne of Denmark when she married her second husband, Prince George of Denmark. George was a first cousin of King Harald V of Norway.

The diamond tiara that Elizabeth wears here belonged to her mother. Elizabeth wore it on her wedding day, and she’s also worn it at subsequent royal events.

Here’s another of King Harald’s maternal cousins: Madeleine Kogevinas, the daughter of Harald’s uncle, Count Carl Bernadotte. She was born Countess Madeleine Bernadotte. She’s worn this diamond and pearl floral tiara at previous royal events, including the wedding of Crown princess Victoria of Sweden; here she wears it with a long diamond pendant necklace.
