The Boucheron Laurel Wreath Tiara vs. The Takamado Laurel Leaf Bandeau

This convertible diamond necklace/tiara was Crown Princess Margareta of Sweden’s wedding gift from her new husband’s grandmother, Queen Sofia of Sweden. The laurel wreath was inherited by Margareta’s third son, Prince Bertil, and worn by his wife, Princess Lilian. When she died in 2013, she bequeathed the tiara to her great-niece, Crown Princess Victoria, who now wears it often.

This delicate diamond bandeau, worn by Japan’s Princess Takamado, features a classical laurel leaf design in a kokoshnik-style setting. The ends of the tiara culminate in ribbon-like twists. Princess Takamado often wears it for receptions at the imperial palace in Tokyo, and she also wore it in Sweden for the 60th birthday gala for King Carl XVI Gustaf.
