The Royal Jewels of June

Yesterday, we talked about the jewels that Queen Elizabeth II has been wearing over the last few months. Today, we’ve got a look at the jewels worn by other royals around the globe during the past month. Royal engagements look a little different now, with social distancing, masks, and outdoor settings, but the royals are still wearing plenty of jewelry!

We begin with the always-exuberant Queen Maxima of the Netherlands. On June 2, she wore bright and cheerful yellow hoops for a visit to The Hague Art Museum. You’ll also spot her engagement and wedding rings.

On June 3, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima attended a performance at The National Theater in The Hague. She chose classic pearl stud earrings and her usual stack of bracelets for the occasion.

Multicolored pearls, including a striking statement necklace, accompanied Maxima on a visit to the mental health care institution in The Hague on June 10.

On June 16, Maxima braved the rain for her introduction as honorary chairperson of the More Music in the Classroom Foundation. She wore her stacked gold bracelets, plus her gorgeous tanzanite and diamond ring.

Fun wood-grain hoop earrings accompanied Maxima on a working visit to technical company Hamer in Apeldoorn on June 25.

In Denmark on June 8, Crown Princess Mary wore pearls, including an eye-catching ring, for the opening of the designer museum Holmegaard Vaerk in Naestved.

In Belgium, Queen Mathilde has been delightfully matching her masks to her outfits, as she did on June 16. She wore major white statement earrings for a royal visit to a Van Eyck exhibition at the Groeningemuseum Museum in Brugge.

For a visit to the Antwerp Tropical Institute of Medicine on June 23, Mathilde wore suitably tropical pair of earrings.

Over in Monaco, the Grimaldis gathered on June 2 for the inauguration ceremony of the new Casino Square.

For the inauguration, Princess Charlene of Monaco wore a dazzling pair of diamond stud earrings and a mask with an encouraging message.

Prince Albert II and the princely family gathered again on June 17 for a much more somber occasion: the funeral of Baroness Elisabeth-Anne de Massy, daughter of the late Princess Antoinette of Monaco. Elisabeth-Anne was a first cousin to Caroline, Albert, and Stephanie; she was also Stephanie’s godmother. Elisabeth-Anne’s children, Melanie and Jean-Leonard, attended the funeral, as did her brother, Christian, and her grandson, Melchior.

Caroline and Stephanie’s children were also in attendance to pay their respects to their late cousin.

Prince Albert, Princess Charlene, and their children, Hereditary Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella, made an appearance on the palace balcony on June 23 to celebrate the feast of St. Jean.

On the balcony, Princess Charlene wore pearl stud earrings, a lovely pearl ring, and a simple cross pendant.

Halfway across the globe, the Japanese imperial family has also been spotted in public. On June 2, Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako participated in a fun imperial tradition: feeding mulberry leaves to silkworms. Masako wore pearl earrings for the occasion.

Empress Masako wore pearl earrings and a pearl necklace on June 16, when the family marked the 20th anniversary of the death of the Emperor’s grandmother, Empress Kojun.

Princess Mako and Princess Kako wore pearls and brooches on June 16 as they made a ceremonial visit to Empress Kojun’s tomb at the Musashi Imperial Graveyard in Hachioji.

The rest of the British royal family has been increasingly busy, too. On June 16, the Duchess of Cornwall visited Gloucestershire Royal Hospital to meet front line key workers. She wore her favorite pearl drop earrings and a small gold brooch, featuring a heart-shaped monogram topped by a golden crown.

On June 18, Camilla wore the Queen Mother’s Three-Stranded Necklace with Art Deco Diamond Clasp for a ceremony in which President Emmanuel Macron of France presented the Legion d’Honneur to London for services during World War II.

Also on June 18, the Duchess of Cambridge wore green onyx earrings from Monica Vinader for a visit to Fakenham Garden Centre in Norfolk.

The Countess of Wessex matched her small green earrings to her t-shirt as she volunteered at the St John Ambulance Operational Support Hub in Gosport on June 23.

Over in Spain, Queen Letizia wore her classic, bezel-set diamond stud earrings on June 8 during a visit to the CAR Sports Center in Madrid.

The royal family attended a contemporary flamenco performance at Teatros del Canal in Madrid on June 19, and both Letizia and Leonor wore gold hoops for the outing.

Letizia wore her beloved gold bamboo hoops on June 23 for a trip to a banana farm in Tenerife…

…and wore the same earrings once more on June 25 during an audience with the Cercle d’Economia de Mallorca and the Cercle d’Economia de Menorca.
