The Top Ten: Crown Princess Victoria’s Wedding Gala (#3)

We’ve made it to the top three in our countdown of the best jewels worn to Crown Princess Victoria’s pre-wedding gala! The third spot goes to the grand emeralds worn by Princess Astrid of Belgium!

Astrid wore the grand Savoy-Aosta Emerald Necklace, a diamond and emerald stunner that comes from the family of her husband, Prince Lorenz. (He’s the head of his particular royal family and also now the custodian of the family jewel collection.) This particular necklace was made in France in the nineteenth-century, and it’s been passed down through several generations of Lorenz’s mother’s family. (More on its history over here!)
