For their first formal engagement of the tour, the Sussexes headed to Cape Town’s Nyanga township for a visit to the Justice Desk initiative. The program teaches children about their rights and provides self-defense classes and female empowerment training to young girls in the community.

With her Mayamiko dress, Meghan wore pieces of diamond and turquoise jewelry. Her diamond and turquoise earrings are by Jennifer Meyer. Her necklace features a small round turquoise and a diamond-set hamsa pendant.

Meghan wore her gold wedding band, but not her engagement ring or her eternity band. Instead, she stacked a gold and turquoise ring (another Jennifer Meyer piece) with her wedding ring.

We got a nice close-up of the bracelet from the pool photographers. It’s similar in design to the Childhood bracelets worn by the Swedish royals. The Justice Desk bracelets can be purchased online, with the proceeds going to support the program.

Meghan and Harry also visited the District 6 Homecoming Centre in Cape Town on Monday. The captions provided with the photographs from the engagement note that District 6 is “a former inner-city residential area in Cape Town, where freed slaves, artisans, immigrants, merchants and the Cape Malay community lived. For over a hundred years, different communities and races lived side by side, and the District became known for its vibrant culture, music and food. In 1966, the government declared District 6 a whites-only area, and over 60,000 residents were forcibly removed and relocated to the Cape Flats Township.”

Meghan changed into a Veronica Beard dress, which was previously worn during her tour of Tonga, for the visit. She kept the same ring stack on her left hand, but she changed out her earrings. This striking pair of leaf earrings was made by a Cape Town jeweler, Nina Bosch.
