Sotheby’s is having another of its blockbuster Magnificent Jewels sales this week in Geneva, and a rather remarkable pair of diamond earrings are up for auction. Dubbed “the Artemis Pink” and “the Apollo Blue,” the earrings can be worn as a mismatched pair — but they will be sold individually, and they’re expected to fetch a small fortune.

The Apollo Blue is advertised by the auction house as a “superb and extremely rare fancy vivid blue diamond.” The lot notes describe the piece as a “pear-shaped fancy vivid blue diamond of truly and outstanding colour and purity weighing 14.54 carats, mounted as an earring with a pear-shaped and a brilliant-cut diamond.” The Apollo Blue is expected to fetch between $38.7 million and $50.9 million.

The other earring, the Artemis Pink, is called a “very important fancy intense pink diamond.” This slightly-larger earring is described in the lot notes as a “pear-shaped fancy intense pink diamond of fine colour weighing 16.00 carats, mounted as an earring with a pear-shaped and a brilliant-cut diamond.” The Artemis Pink is a relative bargain, with auction estimates between $12.7 million and $18.3 million. Both of the earrings are labeled as property of “a lady.”
